Bass Fishing in the Western Cape

Bass fishing in South Africa has always been great fun.

Our warm waters and great vegetation provide awesome locations for both Large and Small Mouth Bass.

This beautiful large mouth was caught in Durbanville during the summer time.

Large Mouth Bass are extremely aggressive and always provide a great fight. Their main source of food in our local dams is Blue Gills ( sun fish ) and other small fish.

Texas rigs and various types of drop shot fishing always work.
In deep waters a great double jointed Rapala crank bait also works extremely well.

Large Mouth Bass enjoy clear warm waters and reed structures. They also enjoying jumping for their pray such as flying insects and love a good challenge.

I am hoping that we can discover some more locations and test some new baits on the market.
