South African Fishing Locations

Hi All,

I am in the midst of setting up a fishing blog/post for all freshwater and saltwater fisherman.
My main aim is to explore fishing locations in South Africa and upload photos.
I am hoping we can all work together and ensure these locations are looked after and not over fished.

I will be updating this blog and changing the layout during the course of the week.

Your trusty fisherman,
Stu

  1. It will be grate to see what people have to say about our fishing waters and what has been going on. Some dams has been upgraded but only in a way that the water won't evaporate or dam walls braking. Facilities is still a problem, but with back yard dwellers around I suppose there isn't much they can do to facilitate around dams with water taps and enough benches

  2. I agree 100%. We all need to work together and see how we can improve our fishing standard.

  6. Ive got some info on where the cob is comming out at the moment in gordonsbay aswell as some galjoen ,stumpnose, steenbras and wildeperd.
    Here are the locations:

1: ou mans gat that is close to ocean view hotel just to the left= cob

2: infront of blakes hotel from the reef = cob, stumpnose, steenbras, galjoen

3: toringtjies next to harmoney park what the people call lovers lane on the reef = all of the above

4: the down pyp opposite pick & pay in gbay from the reef = all of the above mentioned fish

5: harbour island by the shop at the light pole = galjoen

6: harbour island by the point at the green flashing light on the inside of the harbour = steenbras

7: harbour island by the point on the outside towards the red flashing light = cob, stumpnose

8: at gordons bay old harbour right at the point = cob and if you are into sharks and stingrays they also come out there

9: last but not least monwabisi beach in the bay where the people swim =bellman
9.1: monwabisi beach by the big break water = cob, wilde perd, stumpnose and galjoen
9.2: monwabisi beach small breakwater = cob and galjoen
9.3: monwabisi beach all along the coast right up to macassar beach = cob, steenbras, galjoen, stumpnose and bellman

Now the best bait that i would recommend for galjoen is not red bait but pink prawn. this bait also works very well for stumpnose, wildeperd, steenbras and bellman.

The other baits that work well for galjoen, bellman, stumpnose and wildeperd is worm. Now the best one that i would recommend is wonder worm the other aloso work well like moonshine and coral worm.

The other baits that are around also work but i have not had much success with them like white mussel.

I hope that the info that i have supplied so far will be of some help.

Please tel me how i can upload some pics cos ive got alot

  8. Yes ther are a few places to buy bait and they all sit on faure marine drive here they are...

1: This shop is on faure marine drive strand and you cant miss it its painted in large colourfull lettering and they also sell tackle its right next to pick a cheapy car dealership

2: The next shop is in habour island and they also some tackle

3: The last one is in gordons bay and it is close to where faure marine drive froks by the bp garage on the right hand side of the road next to a spots pub. They sell more tackle than the rest and of better quality also theyer bait is of a beter quality but a little more expencive

  11. Hi Jacques
thanks so much for the info, can't wait for the weather to get a bit more warmer. I think you, Ettiene and I should do a salt water mission then.

    Hi Ettiene,
Barbel mission sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can get some worms so we can obtain some small fish.
